Quarterly (03:00 SAST on day 1 of every third month) — enumerates refs/heads/slot*/mc-* on origin, joins against MC ticket status, deletes remotes belonging to tickets in terminal state (done / closed / cancelled). Safety net behind the post-DONE prune in WorktreePool.release().
